Delighting Austin-area audiences since 2005, the Dixieland Accidentals
represent one of the Live Music Capital's most unusual musical
resources. Taking a fresh and often novel approach to traditional
jazz be it ragtime, Dixieland, New Orleans style, Chicago
style, or classic swing the Accidentals serve up the tunes
with a verve and enthusiasm that is downright contagious. Made up
of six members and friends of one of the Live Music Capital's premier
concert music ensembles, the
Austin Symphonic Band, the group displays an
intimate acquaintance with the traditions of American wind band
music (of which traditional jazz is a branch) that is beyond
question. The result is an exciting, toe-tapping musical experience
that appeals to young and old alike.
The Accidentals have performed for audiences at local elementary and
middle schools, at retirement centers, and everything in between,
including such disparately fabled spots as
Scholz Garten,
UT's Harry Ransom Center,
Zilker Hillside Theater,
and the Veloway at Circle C.
Perhaps a little traditional jazz would be just the thing to spice up
your upcoming event.
